Fire alarm, medical calls overnight

Kentwood firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm at a three-story apartment complex in the 5300 block of Kallagwood Drive SE. The caller reported the alarm had been sounding for 30 minutes in one unit and was evacuating. Engine 53 arrived and found nothing visible from outside, then investigated and determined they could handle the alarm. Other responding units were cleared from the scene.

Medics and firefighters responded to a priority medical call for a 62-year-old female diabetic patient with low blood sugar in the 4300 block of Walnut Health Drive Southeast. Engine 51 arrived on scene first and took care of the patient until the ambulance arrived.

Medic 735 was dispatched to the 6200 block of Huntingate Drive Southeast for an 11-year-old male with difficulty breathing. The ambulance had an estimated arrival time of 19 minutes.
